Terra Comunal | Marina Abramović + MAI

The artist’s biggest retrospective in South America and the most ambitious public program coordinated by her Institute (MAI) to date.

The retrospective includes three large-scale, immersive installations representing Abramović’s seminal performance works of the last twelve years. The show will also include a careful selection of videos from all points in her career. A room of “Transitory Objects,” created with minerals and other organic material found in Brazil, explores Marina’s productive and on-going relationship with the country which began in 1989.

The Marina Abramović Institute (MAI) program will host up to 500 visitors a day who will enter a site-specific structure within the building designed to facilitate 5 sessions per day of the Abramović Method. In addition to the Method, eight public talks with the artist, eight long durational performances by Brazilian artists selected by Abramović will be open to the public. Re-performances of the artist’s work and lectures on topics, which converge in the Abramovic Method, are also planned during the exhibitions’ run.
